Video “Freedom”, by Swami Satchidananda

When: Tues, June 17, 7:30pm – 9:00pmGarland-SS Tiger Lotus Web
Where:
Friends Meeting of Richmond, Kensington Ave, Richmond, VA, United States (map)

Description: This talk begins with the question “Who is  responsible for our bondage?“ Material things change constantly and they don’t stay permanently. The body and mind change constantly. If we identify ourselves as those changing things, that is bondage. Real freedom means to free ourselves from the wrong identification that we are the ever changing body and mind. The goal of Yoga is to realize we are the never changing spirit.

In this DVD, Sri Swami Satchidananda (Sri Gurudev) teaches that we do not have to feel bound by position, power and possessions. Instead, we have the ability to control our lives—to be free. We can live a life of freedom from all the anxieties and worries. Then there’s no stress, nothing to block anything. To liberate ourselves, we simply need to let go of our attachments. If we can reduce our wants we can increase our happiness. If we have no wants at all, we will have full happiness! It may be easier said than done but, fortunately, we have a great spiritual master to guide us. Sri Gurudev offers us techniques we can use to attain true freedom, and gives us inspiration to help us achieve our goal.

Topics include:
• What Binds Us
• Why We Run After Things
• Story of the Servant King
• The Secret of Happiness
• How to Let Go
